We take a dater-first approach. Our service is free because we believe that, as a chesed organization, we should not charge the people we serve. We handpick our shadchanim to make sure they share our values, respect dater boundaries, and maintain a supporting role. We recognize the importance of maintaining a 1:1 ratio of men to women daters, so we can provide the most effective service.
This website didn’t spring up overnight. It was a 4-year project to ensure we did this right. We emphasize Torah values. We thought about how to respect dater privacy, give them autonomy, and make the whole process more efficient for daters and shadchanim. Most importantly, we’re always aiming to improve. We’re thrilled to be at our soft launch and we hope you’ll join us as a dater or shadchan.

Canopy on Halacha Headlines
Canopy offers four key improvements to the traditional shidduch system.
Privacy
Canopy offers greater privacy protection than the current shidduch system. Profiles are first shared in an anonymized format; the full shidduch resume is shared only when both parties express mutual interest. Canopy is not an open database — shadchanim and daters cannot search the system.
Autonomy
We offer daters the first look at profiles and the final say on deciding what is right for them. Daters can have an active role in searching for their shidduch, by reviewing the anonymized profiles they receive and deciding whether to pursue the suggestions.
Efficiency
Because daters are generally the ones most invested in the process, they are often best positioned to play the main role. Canopy lets daters access and review suggestions directly, saving time and energy. Although there’s still time for research, we’ve eliminated much of the initial back-and-forth with a shadchan to confirm whether an idea makes sense.
Balance
Canopy maintains a 1:1 ratio of men to women by requiring sign-up in pairs and implementing measures to preserve this balance. We believe this equilibrium is essential for providing an effective service. By fostering equal participation, we statistically increase the likelihood of making shidduchim.
